Eco Marine x Zero Foodprint Asia

We are delighted to announce a new green partnership with Zero Foodprint Asia. Throughout 2021, we’ll be sharing with you strategies and actionable tips to reduce food packaging waste and food waste!

These will include shopping, storage, reuse and upcycling tips as well as strategies including fermentation, preservation and dehydration to creatively transform food typically seen as waste such as shiitake mushroom stems, pomelo skin and ‘ugly fruits’ into delicious soups, sauces and jams. Get ready for delectable recipes and some fun whilst we work together to lower our environmental impact.

Zero Foodprint Asia is headed by climate activist and plant based chef Peggy Chan, as part of Grassroots Initiatives in collaboration with Carbonbase.

ZFP Asia aims to make change actionable in the food industry, by mobilizing stakeholders within the food value chain including restaurant clientele (YOU!) to generate support for local and regenerative farm projects that lower environmental impact and carbon footprint.

If you would like to support Zero Foodprint Asia’s launch, start by pledging for your copy of the ‘Provenance’ cookbook on Kickstarter (until February 24, 2021).

Yi O Farm x Eco Marine

We began our collaboration for a mangrove cleanup + farm expreince with Yi O Farm Cooperative (near Tai O) in South West Lantau in July 2020 and will continue in 2021.

Over the past seven years the Yi O Farm Cooperative has been working with indigenous villagers on reviving local organic farming at Yi O. Currently the cooperative farms approximately 100,000 square feet of land, producing a prized organic rice crop as well as other plants including roselle. Outside of the 100,000 square feet of farmed land, another 900,000 square feet is managed by the cooperative for future farm extension and historical and environmental conservation. Yi O is adjacent to the coast with the shoreline made up of rocky coastline, small sandy beach areas, and wetlands—home to valuable plants like mangroves and grasses and numerous animal species with a few being herons, mudskippers and endangered horseshoe crabs. However, the mangrove area is regularly covered with manmade rubbish ranging from macro debris (polystyrene containers, single use plastic cups, food wrappers, single use beverage bottles, etc.) to micro debris (plastic filament, broken down polystyrene and the ever present pre production plastic pellets).

RIL CREED x Eco Marine upcycled leather products
Ril Creed’s bags are designed around and handcrafted from leather offcuts. After having visited their leather bag making factory and seeing the massive storeroom holding excess material they have saved from going to landfill, we wanted to partner together to raise awareness about waste from manufacturing in the fashion industry as well as educate consumers about sustainable practices.

CUFFS x Eco Marine beeswax wraps
Leftover fabric pieces that are too small to make into a shirt are turned into re-useable beeswax wraps.
